Publisher's notes ---
April 2001
Christianity is
unique. It is the one world religion that claims that its leader was not
only the incarnation of God, but that he was resurrected from death.
That unique aspect of our faith is celebrated every year around this
time. It is the part of our faith that gives us hope and reminds us that
God is the redeemer of what appear to be lost causes...The early
fathers of the faith were among those who personally touched and saw the
risen Jesus. It was their personal experience that lead many of them to
a missionary life and a martyr's death. Faith is a little harder to come
by for those of us who have not touched or seen Jesus in the flesh. We
have to rely on our experience through the eyes and hands of faith.
This month's issue of Next-Wave
majors in exhortation and evangelism. An update concerning the skate
ministry in Moreno Valley, California by Tom Chapman is coupled with an
article on a similar ministry entitled the Samaritan
"mentality" by Jeremy Summers. Brenda Seefeldt explains the
power of a testimony and Greg Reid discusses exiting
Disneyland,
Hell and the Twilight Zone. Ben Rushlo takes a look at what Homer
Simpson and the voice of god have in Common. Len Hjalmarson
discusses renewal, its
hype and its reality. Stephen Shields continues
his scholarly look at the Dangers and Delights of Navigating postmodern
currents. I talk about how bad things can happen in
marriages.
I
received an update on author Leslie Ramusack's physical condition. She
had been awaiting a heart transplant, her own heart was failing. The
procedure was done earlier this month and she hopes to be home soon.
Thanks for your prayers on her behalf.
I encourage you to
respond to the content of Next-Wave in one of two ways: either by e-mail
or by posting a message to our discussion
page. Representative e-mail responses are published in our letters
section.
Once again, thanks
for your continued interest in Next-Wave. I invite you to get further
involved by responding, discussing or by writing an article (please see Call for
Papers).
Blessings,

Charlie Wear,
