The Soliton Sessions
http://www.solitonnetwork.org

Join others, this September 4-6, for 55 hours where conversation breathes community, tension leads to truth, and change invites us back to the "center". In our post-Christian context, the "center" is "re-living" of the ancient elements of our faith within our current environments. Perhaps you are one who has gathered for many conversations surrounding post-modernism, or maybe you are one that has just begun to struggle through the many trails of this travel.

The SOLITON SESSIONS are a time of journey together into what is next, a question that could have us explore the "center" of everything we do, leading us to the future of who we are to be.  Practitioners, students, theologians, moms--no matter the age, denomination, fashion, or geographic--are invited to attend and participate. For 55 hours we desire to share life, to dialog, to explore, to learn, to be challenged, to listen, to relax, to create friendships, to dream, to allow God full creative interruption.

Space is limited to 150 participants so as to create an intimate environment where greater dialog is explored, and shared life is experienced.

Speakers include:

Erwin McManus

Erwin serves as the lead pastor and cultural architect of Mosaic in Los Angeles, California. From the global center of change, Mosaic emerges as a spiritual reference point for the future church. As founder of Awaken, Erwin collaborates with a team of dreamers and innovators who specialize in the field of developing and unleashing personal and organizational creativity. As a domestic and international consultant, he has developed an expertise on culture, change, leadership, and creativity. He partners with Bethel Theological Seminary as distinguished professor and futurist, and is a contributing editor for the Leadership Journal. Erwin's first book, An Unstoppable Force, is a Gold Medallion finalist and his second book, Seizing Your Divine Moment, was released in fall of 2002.

Dan Kimball

Dan is the author of The Emerging Church: Vintage Christianity for New Generations (www.vintagefaith.com). Dan founded the "Graceland" worship services for emerging generations at the Santa Cruz Bible Church, in Santa Cruz, California. He has also launched a sister-church, "Vintage Faith Church" in Santa Cruz for the post-Christian culture. Dan also serves on the Emergent-YS board for Youth Specialties.

David Ruis

David Ruis has a keen vision to see worship and social justice exist together, as was the case in the early church. He has been a key speaker and worship leader at the Worship Together events across the United States, and has written many worship songs over the years including "You're Worthy of My Praise." He was the founder and pastor of the Winnipeg Vineyard in Canada, a church focused on reaching the poor and marginalized in the inner city. He now resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Anita, and their four children.

Jeremy and Jamie Wells

Jeremy and Jamie Wells are full-time artists in Houston, Texas, and are art-worship leaders at their home church, Ecclesia. They believe that creativity is from the Creator and should not be feared or shunned from the Christian life, rather it should be enjoyed and explored as an active form of worship. These passionate ministers share their experiential teaching ministry with churches who seek ways to incorporate the arts and disciple the artist.

Craig Detweiler

Craig Detweiler has a MFA from the School of Cinema and Television at USC and a MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary. He also serves on the board of the City of the Angels Film Festival. His feature documentary, "Williams Syndrome: A Highly Musical Species" won the Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival and the CINE Golden Eagle. Craig's original comic screenplay, "The Duke", was recently released by Buena Vista Home Video and is shown periodically on the Disney channel. He also co-wrote the high-energy feature film, Extreme Days. He teaches "Faith, Film and Culture" at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center and co-directs Reel Spirituality, a think-tank for filmmakers and clergy.
