Looks like you are facing the same dilemma that many of us are today. It sounds like pretty basic pluralism to me. My suggestion is that you not argue the book he is reading; instead study the Bible with him. Keep him in your prayers and allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten, convict, and convince him. I mean, if God can't do it, who can?
