You mean to tell me that there are pastors who don't mingle in a relational way with the congregation!??? :^O (he said somewhat sarcastically). Of course I think this is a bad thing - and I have obviously seen it on a grand scale. In some of my own ministry training, I have actually been told that you shouldn't get too close to "the people" - it causes problems and they can't handle being friends with the pastor. Now, this is total crap (is that too strong? ...uh, nope) and is one of those things that really, I believe, tears the body of Christ apart. I think "ministers" are taught this, whether subtley or overtly, and thus - they end up only being friends with or having real relationships with other leaders. Not too healthy for anyone involved I don't think.
