Interview with Danielle Arnold
1. How did you get involved in Sandals
Matt Brown was a friend of mine in college. I was also
friends with his brother Nathan. Later in my college career Nathan and I started dating.
After we had been dating for some time we decided it would be best for us to begin
worshipping together. So we did that at Bible Fellowship of Riverside. Soon thereafter,
Matt talked to us about his desire and calling to start a church.
Nathan and a few other close friends of Matt jumped on the idea to help him start the
church. So since we were together and heading towards marriage, I encouraged Nathan to go
and help out Matt. I went with him. Ever since I have had no doubt that God led us to this
church and had a plan for us to minister along side Matt here in Riverside.
2. What is your role?
My role at Sandals is in several different areas.
I help lead worship under the leadership of Moises Navarro. Since I studied music in
college and God has gifted me with a pretty good voice I thought that I could be used at
Sandals in this area. Our group has been building, changing, and growing since its
conception and it has been a blessing in my life that God has allowed me to serve my
community at Sandals in this area.
Working with the team has also been a growing experience for me. I had not used the gift
of music that God had given me. I was afraid of opinions of others. Through the grace of
God in allowing me to worship and serve in the music ministry my confidence in this gift
has grown and exceeded my expectations of how God could use me in the ministry of music. I
also serve at Sandals in some behind the scenes areas. I help out with loose ends when
someone needs help. I feel that if I'm there and I am available I should step out and
offer help to anyone who needs it. I get quite busy with the things I do on Sunday nights
but I always make an effort to make sure people know Sandals cares for them. That is one
of our many goals at Sandals. We want everyone to see how much God loves them and
sometimes the only time they will see that is if they see His love in us. Just saying,
"Hi, I'm happy that you have worshipped with us tonight," can show the love of
God in a wonderful way.
3. How do you view your future involvement in Sandals,
and the church at large?
I think sometime in the future I will be working with the
Women's ministries there. I have known for a while now that God is calling me in that area
but I know that my leaders at Sandals will know the timing for when I can formally start
organizing that ministry. Right now I need some more growing time before I formally step
up into that area of Leadership. Until then, I will read my Bible and other books to help
me grow in wisdom, I will encourage the women around me at my church, and above all I will
pray for the timing and ministry needs of the women at Sandals so that I can serve them
better when the time comes. As for Sandals, I see Sandals reaching out to all people of
Riverside in some way. Whether it be directly or indirectly it is important that others
know that we are here to serve them honestly and lovingly. Our goal and prayer at Sandals
is and always will be for us to be, "Real with God, Others, and Ourselves!!!" If
we can keep striving to do these three things there is nothing God can not do through us
in serving Him and others.

| Next Wave exists to help you find the
best possible strategy for your situation. For that purpose we visit different churches
and describe them, with pictures and words, in the hope that it will be helpful to you to
see how others do their work. Of
course not everything here will be relevant to you, but perhaps that one or two things
will be helpful to you for your context.
In the near future,
NEXT WAVE visits GRACELAND at Santa Cruz
Bible Church.
